How can I create a report that includes past due invoices on it and payments for collection purposes. I did a transaction list by customer which should work but how do I take off the inactive accounts?

Reports > Customers & Receivables > Collections Report.
Thank you. I have done that but cannot get it to show payments made--only invoices. How do I get it to show payments?
Go to the Customer Center, click on the customer name and on the right you'll see all their activity.
For collection purpurses, I would like to have it all on one report. I do not always do collection calls our receptionist sometimes does. I would like to have one all encompassing report with invoices and payments on it.
Try this -- Reports > Customers & Receivables > Customer Balance Detail and Modify or Customize to add the phone #.
That worked fine. My next question is...how do I filter out the inactive clients? I looked in Filter and can't find anything!

I have been trying the same thing you are needing. I hired a person to enter cust checks...and then follow thru with collections. We have to tag team it every week as I don't see in the Collection Report how to enter notes : Date I called Cust; Who I talked to, all the importanat documentation.
For years I have been doing it manually on a piece of paper! That works until we have someone else do it. I will work on the Collections Report for a while again...If i can come up with anything, will send you a post.

Check out the Collections Center that was new in 2011. Go to the Customer Center, click on the Transactions Tab, on the upper, right click on Collections Center. For Overdue and Almost Due invoices, you can see the name, phone number, invoices and you can click on the Notes as needed. Plus, you can email customers quick & easy from the collections center too.

Thankyou Ms Michelle. I will resource youb blog. Glad you found a sol't for Cathe. I am still in Pro 2009 and don't see that option in this version. Yes, I upgraded ea time I was prompted.
I see the main issue: Reports are just that: a report. One cannot add 'notes to reports; only modfiy the format. I looked around for ways to add notes under Customer Center..n then hopefully see them on a report. No luck yet.
