Citizen C310 receipt printer - cancelling print queue

US QuickBooks Premier

Point of Sales System and the Citizen C-310 receipt printer.   I had the Citizen receipt printer working but I sent an inventory report to it by mistake.  It sort of printed the report and then started feeding the receipt paper roll without stopping until I had several feet of paper everywhere.  I turned it off to stop the feeding.  I went to the printer queues and cancelled the document and it did not help.  I even uninstalled and re-installed the printer but it didn't work.  I have re-booted the computer.  Still when I send a receipt to the printer it will print the inventory report and excessively feed blank roll paper.

Any ideas?

When you look at the printer on the control panel does it show any documents in the qeue for that printer?  You can try performing a self test/dump by turning off the printer, holding the feed button while turning the printer back on.  When you do this it will print a long receipt with lots of characters.  After this try printing a sales receipt.  If that does not work try reinstalling the printer with the driver from the Intuit website, the link is below.

Hope this answered your question, if so please mark solved so others may benefit from the solution.

We are in day 27 of 30 day trial of v10 and having printer problems as well.  Save and Print not available to conclude sales transaction.  Print queue full of stuff including QBPOS command...Spent long time talking to India. Based on this suggest the following:

Sign in as sysadmin and go to preferences/workstation/documents and printiers and be sure your receipt printer is correctly identified  for things you want to print on this printer, and  that other printing functions are not defaulting to the receipt printer.  This is a preventive measure, not a fix for your problem.  Try printing testpages from this screen to be sure things are going to the right printer.

Then in POS execute file/Hardware Setup Wizard and select receipt printer.  Your receipt printer should be highlighted.  Go to the next screen and the receipt printer should be the Transactiondocuments printer.  Our screen shows that the receipt printer is also the printer for other documents, but the test page prints on the network (non-receipt) printer assigned in the instruction above.  Obviously a bug.  We also get a message saying one or more of the printers is not available, yet everything prints correctly on the correct printer.  A CHECKSUM bug???Intuit???

Also go to Windows Start/Devices and Printers (or control panel/printers).  The receipt printer should be the default printer.  The queue should be empty.  Clear if necessary.  Right click on the receipt printer icon, select printer properties, and print a test page.

India did all of this remotely, but eventually instructed us to switch the receipt printer to another USB port and allow the driver to reinstall.

Eventually this worked, although do get the buggy messages noted above.  Not sure if this will help you.

Yes, still having problems.  Printer assignments made in workstation preferences are not retained for several of the options.  We have to reassign the printers at startup.  Sending a report to the Citizen crashes the printer, spewing paper for some items (a cash out receipt today).  The weird QBPOS command.. appears in the print queue and the only way out is to reboot the computer.  Exiting and starting POS does not work.  This is happening one or more times a day.

Sounds like you have printer drivers crossing, will probably need to uninstall all printers *including drivers*, then reinstall starting with the citizen.  The QBPOS command is the drawer kick signal, gets backed up along with everything else when the printer queue gets backed up.

Beyond that summarized explanation, your best bet is to call into Tech support at 800-348-0254 - support for the trial is covered free of charge.

We did this this morning with the help of Souradh at customer support.  He was efficient and helpful.

Deleted all printers

Downnloaded the Citizen 310 driver from the citizen website and saved to desktop

Unplugged the printer and ran the installation

Plugged in the printer and did a printer self test  (turn off, turn on while holding down the feed key)

Printed a sales receipt (the Citizen did no appear in the print set up window) which worked

Rebooted the computer.  Citizen now appeared in the print set up window

Reinstalled the network printer.

Note we did not remove the old printer drivers.  I guess Soradh didn't think it was necessary

We will see how this works.  Hopefully problem solved.

BTW we are a small store with ~2000 inventory items and everything else has been working fine.  I used print screen and word to creat documents showing step by step screen shots for doing common procedures.  Happy to share them with anyone who is interested.

[removed] for shastajane.

All is cool.  Won't post on this unless things change, or someone else asks a question.
