Hi xpress1,
When you pull up the write check screen make sure the correct account is selected at the top left. Then you can enter in the check number you want to start with in the check number field.

yes but if i have an account with two sub accounts and write a check from one sub account and then the other can the check numbers be auto generated from the main account?

You'll need to manually change the check number. The auto generated check number will be based on the last check number from the specific account you select.
