Average cost is a result of all purchases made of your item(s).  Why do you want to change the average cost?

What has occurred or do you wish to occur in order to make the value adjustment?

Hey Fretley,

We have just started with this program and I have a new employee helping me put in my wholesale inventory. She is putting in from a hand written list. When explaining to her how to figure cost I told her wrong so, therefor all cost are wrong in like 800 inventory items. And when we went in to change cost it let us but,  average cost at the bottom was still the original wrong amout. Wanted to see what to do to get that number to change and if the is a way to bulk change prices if you use the same formula on all? LIke divide all by 2. I also had her put in retail price under sales price and it should have been the wholesale price not retail, then I had her put in wholesale price under cost. which should have been the what it cost me to make it. Which is less than my wholesale cost. B/c wholesale is what I sell it to the stores for..UGH..I really screwed up, does this make any sense? And is there a way to fix it short of going back to each item? And then when we tried that as mentioned above it will let you change cost and sales price but does not recompute average sale price...

Thanks agian..hope I didnt make this overly confusing b/c I am :)

Ok, just posted that question/ response to Fretley and confused myself so going to try and state my problem in short terms..

put in over 800 inventory items. Cost, sale cost, description ect.

I sell jewelry wholesale, so need to put in my cost to make and wholesale price I sell it to store for

When told Paige how to figure cost/wholesale cost from my hand written inventory sheet, told her wrong

So ALL cost and sale prices on inventory list are wrong

She and I went in and changed the 1st ine it let us change cost and sales price but, then did not recompute avg cost at bottom, it was still the same as what we originally put in which was wrong

Also, is there a bulk way to change all sale prices...I need everyone she typed in divided in half to be wholesale cost

then need all the sales prices divided in half to get my cost

just sick about having to have her go in and change both amounts on 800 items.

and then still not sure what to do when avg cost doesnt adjust to new amout

Thanks so so so much ! need all the help I can get

You can export to excel to make your mass changes then import back into excel

Check out this great resource:

As far as cost(s) calculations, you will have to move to making an inventory value adjustment:  From your item list select Activities>Adjust Quantity/Value on hand

"if it ain't broke, enhance it"
