Can't get Lacert 2004 to launch

Lacerte : 2004

Originally I had some problem with Internet Explorer (according to Intuit tech)

I've updated to IE v.8.0

Now I'm getting the following

"error loading prep file manager" Catastrophic Failure

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Call your Internet Service Provider's Tech Support. There have been some problems in

some of the lines carrying DSL. My service at home crashed twice in the past week.

The connection instructions between my computer and my service provider vanished

at both ends and had to be reintered.

When anyone doing nothing needs help, I will gladly help that person do nothing.

Is your PREP file on a floppy? Have you tried putting that floppy into the machine when trying to load the '04 program?

I figured it out. When launching from a Desktop Shortcut, the properties were set for it to Compatibility - running in compatibility mode for Windows 95. I disabled that compatibility change and it launches - new problem resulted -

It says that a Script Error occurred with a help file. I can bypass that error, but no client files will open. All I get is "An unexplained error has occurred in the Lacerte Tax Program. Please shut down the program and try again.

I hate this stuff.....
