Can't find disk for correct QB program, yet have license and product #. HELP!!

US QuickBooks Premier : 2007: Manufacturing and Wholesale

I needed to get into a previous years file that was created using a different QB software, 2007 premier, which I installed. However, now it seems that the older software has taken the place of the new one?! When I open the correct QB proram using the same short cut, it still shows at the top of the window, Man. and WHL. edition 2007.

I of course had to enter the license # when installing the old program in order to use it, and when I open my current file it's not allowing me to access our payroll account when I click on the link. We paid for the enhanced version but now I can't access the files for filing for the State. In the top right of the payroll window it says my subscription is active, but not what it used to say which was, "your enhanced payroll for unlimited employees is active." I'll click on access my payroll account and nothing happens.

What do I do? When I look at the add/remove files section of my computer, it shows that both QB files are not using up any space. It did this after I tried to repair the correct program.

I do have the license number and product number for the correct program, just no disk. So should I remove the old file and try to repair the correct one and hope that it asks for the license and product #?

Thanks for your help!!

Hi Sharp.

Once a program is opened in a newer version of QuickBooks, you cannot open it in a previous version. I bet whichever file you are opening in QuickBooks 2007 is not the file you have been using in a newer version and as such would explain the issues you are having when trying to do payroll.

From your subject line, it sounds like you can't find the disk needed to re-install your newer version, but you have the license and product number from that newer version. If this is the case, visit this URL to download the installation package for the newer version of QuickBooks that you can't find: http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/Pages/KnowledgeBaseArticle/1...

The product and license numbers are only part of getting to a newer version of QuickBooks, you need to actuall install the software as well.

I hope this helps and please reply to this message with more information if you have further questions. Otherwise, please mark this question as Solved or Helpful. Thanks and good luck to you!

Thank you for getting back to me. I clicked the link and the software options do not include the manufacturer and wholesale edition. Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

Actually, just choose the link for "QuickBooks Premier" and when it is installing, you will be prompted to choose the Manufacturing and Wholesale version.

Let me know how it goes!

OK...I removed the older version of QB and am now using the only version of QB that I have on my computer, which is the Man. and Wholesale version. However, when I click on 'Manage my Account' in the payroll window nothing happens. Nor does anything happen when I click on 'My Payroll Service'.

We just recently renewed our Enhanced Payroll for Unlimited employees subscription, so I know that's current and should work, like it always has. But something's wrong.

Ug!

I appreciate you taking the time to help me. Any other thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I would suggest you contact support for this type of troubleshooting. I'm afraid that it will take much longer to type to each other back and forth with possible causes and solutions. The folks at the support line should be able to help. I looked in our system and I do see your active payroll subscription, so that's not an issue. You can request that support calls you back by entering a request for call back. Do this at www.payroll.com/support then click the link under "Request a phone call."

Thanks and good luck!

I contacted support yesturday morning and they guided me through updating my entire system, which what was needed to fix my problem. If you come across any one else with a problem similar to this, this is what I had to do. Support told me to go to the Help menu while in QB, go to update QB, make sure automatic update was on. click the tab "update now", make sure all items were checked, check the box "reset updates", and then click "get updates". It took 4 hours but it finally solved my problem.

Thanks!
