Can't delete memorized transactions

I'm using QuickBooks 2012 Mac and I can't find a way to delete my list of memorized transactions. These transactions originated in a Quicken 2007 Mac file and moved over during the migration to QuickBooks. I can delete new transactions but not these old ones. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

This sounds familiar - asking around.

It came up before and is reproducible when importing from Quicken.   A bug has been entered - can't say when it will be fixed but hopefully in an update not too far off.  Thanks for reporting it.

I have QB 2012 for Mac.  I am having a very similar problem to the original poster.  I cannot delete or edit certain types of Memorized Transactions.

For example, I entered a "CC Refund" type of Memorized Transaction today for a monthly credit card payment.  I made a mistake, but QB will not let me delete or edit.

I can however still delete or edit other "types" of memorized transaction no problem, such as a "check" or "invoice" type.

Is this a bug also?  The original file was created in QB 2007 for Mac, however the transaction has been created since the file has been QB 2012, so it shouldn't be affected right?

Try from reports>report center, select the memorized transaction, click the red X

I tried... there are no Memorized Transactions in the Report Center, only Memorized Reports.  Thanks for trying to help.

My mistake, I was thinking memorized reports. What happens when you try? I just memorized a bill and had no problems deleting it.

I have no problem deleting any type of memorized transaction... except for a "CC Refund".  It will not allow me to delete this.

Well, I'll be; it appears you've uncovered a bug. I was so certain it was all due to the Quicken conversion issue that I didn't bother checking. I can't delete a CC Refund either. I'll report this to product development.

I don't see a workaround for you either. I would have suggested editing the Memorized transaction from the list and change the settings to "Never" but the "Edit" command on the contextual menu is grayed out. Sorry, I'll report it right away.

Thanks for letting me know, yep I figured I had stumbled on a bug.  Hopefully this is fixed in the next update.  I think I also found another bug, is this the appropriate place to report it?

Yes by all means. Start a new thread to keep them seperate and use the quickbooks>quickbooks feedback function to report as well.

Done -- created new thread named "Bug when creating vendor in account chart" -- thanks for your help/attention, it's great to know Intuit checks these message boards and takes action.

Hi, this followup post is intended for "jfisher".

You said I had uncovered a bug.  It has been 2 updates and the bug is still there.

Any idea when it will be fixed?

thanks.

This is how I fixed it...

1. Click on the Reports Menu
2. Report Center...
3. Scroll down to the LIST heading and click on LIST heading.
4. Scroll down that list to "Memorized Transaction Listing" and click the Display button on the right hand bottom corner.
5. Double click the Memorized Transaction by Transaction Name in the QuickReport structured list.
6. Edit Memorized Transaction... set 'How Often' to Never option.
7. Click OK.

Genius!  That totally worked for me, thank you so much for taking the time to post your solve.

Of course the transactions are still there in the Memorized Transaction list, but at least they don't keep happening and needing deletion every month, which was a nuisance.

In my case it is only a "CC Refund" that can't be deleted, and this was not brought over from any older version of Quickbooks, or Quicken import.  An Intuit employee said it's a bug and would be fixed, but 2 updates later it's still there.

We prioritize bugs based on severity,  likelihood of occurance, risk of introducing new bugs, availability of resources, overall business requirements, etc, etc.   This one is open but hasn't been fixed yet.
