I want to apply a 15% discount on my invoices. I set up an item called "commission discount". But when I apply it, it only applies the discount to the item above it, not the invoice total. I have to apply the discount to each line.How can I fix this?
discounts when used as a percent only afffect the item above it, use a sub total item THEN the discount item to affect all above it
check it first there may be on there, if not create a new item of the type subtotal

I set up the subtotal item to solve this problem, as suggested. Now I'm wondering about the "commision discount" item that I set up and the "designer commision" account that I created to go with it. I set up the "designer commision" account as a cost of goods sold, I'm not sure if that's correct. Also, could I make it more accurate by creating subaccounts under the "designer commission" account for each designer that I pay?
I would book designer commission as a fee expense account myself
To track the different designers use a class. If you set up a different account for each you also have to set up a different item, since the item determines what account is posted to
Edit>preferences>accounting>company tab, check mark use class tracking to turn it on ..... see Help>classes
