I can't add new transactions to the register when reconciling. I keep getting an error saying "An error occurred while making your changes." I wonder if it's related to the update I just installed. I am in the "downloaded transactions" screen.
This is unforunately a bug and we will be looking to fix this as soon as possible. The workaround for this is to leave the Show Matched option turned on (check the checkbox) while adding the transactions into the register. This way, you shouldn't encounter the error message.

Although now, i get the spinning wheel while it works going from Firefox back to Quick Books. The original problem is better than this new problem.
I saw the beachball when launching QB this morning. You didn't by chance download the Apple security update last night?
No. I haven't yet. I am sure this is their subtle way of getting us to buy 2012.
I downloaded the Apple update last night and thought it might be related. You should not be forced to upgrade till May 2014, assuming you are currently running QB 2011.
I'm using the 2012 at work. It's got lots of problems. I won't put it in at home until they fix the bugs.
