can i work on quickbooks at the office then take a backup copy home( where i have qb 2008 also) then update the office computer with work that i have done at home? if so what happens if QB @ work that has had transactions or other activity?
If you have QB 2008 at the office, yes you can take files between the home and office. If you have QB 2009 at the office, no you will not be able to use the file in 2008. You create a back up file and then restore the back up file. (It is just like file save and open with Word or Excel files, but in QB it is called Back up and restore). You can only work on one data file at a time and then you must create a back up. You have to be careful with which data file is the most current.
An alternative is to use Remote Access to log into you QB file on the work computer from home. You can install LogMein FREE on the work computer. Then as long as you leave it turned on, you can log in from home. Then, you don't have to do all the back up and restore.
