Can I export/import customer and vendor data to begin a new data File?
My Quickbooks file is very large and I would like to begin a new data file. Is it possible to export contact information from an old data file to a new one?

Yes, use IIF files. Start at File | Utilities | Export | Lists to IIF files...

Thank you - that certainly answers part of my question. Part 2 - if I have already set up a new data file can I still import my customers/vendors, or whatever lists I wish, without disturbing what I have already set up? I imagine that if I import the vendor list to my new daata file, and I have already setup several of the same vendors then the export will probably overwrite what I have set up.
In other words, when exporting lists, does the list information being imported have to go into a brand new data file or can it be imported into a newly set up file with some activity already posted?

The solution
You can import into any file, including one that already has lists. If in your example a vendor already exists and is in the import file as well, then it is overridden.
