Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

No. Depending on the state, you may need to register separately. I would check with the state before you e-file, otherwise the return may come back rejected.

When I first registered to efile with the IRS for the 2005 tax year, my Illinois return came back rejected when I electronically filed it without registering first. Fortunately I allowed plenty of time since it was my first year filing. After I contacted Illinois, they were able to get me registered within days. However, they generally want tax preparers to register in advance.

Yes and No. Each state is different. Go to Help>EFAtlas http://www.lacertesoftware.com...

Thank you guru for your response. I looked at the atlas. Do the atlas groupings mean that any returns that go to Andover will/can be state e-filed for the states in that region?

Basically yes. Just remember that each state may have it's own registration/retention guidelines - they are not at the service center level.
