I'm not sure since it is no longer supported. Call Intuit (go to www.quickbooks.com/support and click on contact us.

I had already followed the steps you suggested and the support person I spoke with on the phone told me to download Quickbooks 2005 from quickbooks.com. My initial problem was that in trying to load the cd I have, I need flashplayer 7 and it is not available any longer. Phone support suggested I download the program from the website and skip the flashplayer download. The downloads only went back as far as 2006. We updated our office computer and I am trying to load in the program so that I can get all our information into the new computer. Now that you know the circumstances regarding my initial question, maybe you can offer a solution now.

Unfortunately, if you have a new computer, it probably has Vista. QB 2005 won't work on Vista. QB 2005 is no longer supported--even if you could reinstall the program, you wouldn't have all the updates for it.
QB Pro 2009 has been on sale for about $100 at most retailers lately (Office Depot, Best Buy, Amazon, etc.). There have been a lot of improvements in the past 4 years -- a more stable database (SQL), customer/vendor centers, the ability to sort the bank rec window and much more. I'd suggest you upgrade to 2009. It is recommended that you upgrade every 3 years.

This is a known issue with the 2005 installers.
Use your CD and cancel the install. Then search for quickbooks.msi on the CD.
There is a secondary installer in a subfolder on the CD called quickbooks.msi. Execute it from there. This will skip checking for the presence of Flash and allow you to install the software.
You will also need to update to the R11. The links I have for the patches are no longer valid but I do have the patches from R4 thru R11. However, R11 is 63,009 KB so I would have to email it to you. Respond with an email address if you are interested in trying this,
I assume you know QB2005 won't work on Vista!
Jughead,
This sounds like the solution I was looking for. I do not have Vista and really don't need to do updates as our company is small and Quickbooks 2005 is more than we need and I like it! What are the R4-R11 patches?
Melyne,
The R4-R11 patches are corrections to QB2005. They fix various problems. When you use the CD to install QB2005 it will be at revision R1. If your company file was created at revision R6 you may not be able to open it until you install at least R6. When you try to restore or open the company file you may get an error message telling you that it is a newer version and can't open it. Then you will need to install the revision. If you need to get the revision email me at garverr@hughes.net.

Thank you, I was able to load the software just fine.
