I know some people have had good luck with that. I will say that the "referral" services, which have you sign up with them and they set appointments for you with "qualified" businesses tend to get extremely poor reviews from people who used them. The most-common complaint is that the potential clients weren't clients anyone would ever want.

I think the best way to establish a client portfolio in tax prep is take over a retiring CPAs book. Second to that is marketing to bookkeepers. My clients ask my opinion on their CPAs and ask for CPA referrals all the time. Of course, I refer to the guys I have worked with and like. Treat the bookkeepers you come in contact with good and ask them if they have other clients that might need to make a switch.
Thanks Jennifer, Ok I'll work on networking then.
