California auto use tax

I've lived in CA all my life and I've never heard of an auto use tax.  

There's sales and use tax charged when you purchase a vehicle (the sales tax can be deductible under the sales tax deduction on schedule A), and there are registration and licensing fees charged each year when you register the vehicle (the licensing fee is deductible under personal property taxes).

Where are you seeing an auto use tax?

Look at the registration - only the vehicle license fee is deductible.
