Calculating Unit Costs

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2011

I am a manufacturer and I have QB Pro 2011. I want to track inventory costs by unit. I have an inventory item that is made up of ingredients that I manufacture but it also includes the bottle, cap, & label which are all purchased by a 3rd party vendor. I may buy 300 bottles, 350 caps and 325 labels all with different shipping costs. Can QB calculate the unit cost for one finished product?

Yes, it would be easier if you upgrade to premier which has the assembly item that is designed to compbine two or more inventory items into one salable item

Bascially you stock ingredients, bottles, caps etc as inventory items

In pro you have to simulate an assembly, see this proceedure
