calculating overtime pay for a biweekly pay period

how is overtime calculated for a biweekly pay period. Is overtime anything over 80 hours or is it based on each 40 hour week?

Usually it is based on a 40 hour work week.   You might want to check with your state labor board to find out what the rules and regulations are for your state.

Actually, I think it's a federal mandate.  You can learn more about overtime law at the US Dept. of Labor website.
