Budget behavior is screwy in QB 2012?

US QuickBooks for Macintosh : 2012

My budget figures are not associating with the correct months - they display correctly in the set-up budgets window but some figures shift by 6 months on reports. this is a recent upgrade from QB for Mac 2007 to 2012; the company is on a July to June fiscal year. Anyone have a fix?

We have an open bug with the developers for this.  It was brought to our attention last month.  I don't have a fix date listed yet.

I'd like to make sure your scenario matches those we have reported:

  • You budgeted an amount for only a few accounts throughout the FY
  • You budgeted for all months and then removed the amount for any month in the FY period.

Please let me know how your budget is set up for those budget items that have shifted or are not correct and I will update the bug report to include the new informatoin.

Please help me improve my performance by answering a short survey that will be emailed to you from the community.

This was a straight transfer of data from a functional QB for mac 2007 file. I didn't remove any amounts or make any other edits when this manifested — it existed when i opened the new QB for mac 2012 version of my account.

In my account, there are FY12 budget amounts for most but not all accounts. There are not always amounts in every month (for example, if an expense is billed quaterly, i had entered amounts in the relevant 4 months and left the other 8 blank).

your help is greatly appreciated — without being able to general reports, QB is useless to us.

Here you can see how some numbers are entered in the company file, yet are associated with the wrong months in a report. screenshot

This matches the scenario that is covered in the reported bug.  I'll edit the bug to note that it also occurs in an upgraded file.

Thanks! I'm concerned when you say it's a known problem without a "fix date".

Is there a workaround? I need to be able to run reports. If I can't do this in QB, then I'll have to find another solution.

I've been using QB since 1998 so I would hate to have to move to another platform.

The only workaround I've found is to enter something in those months you normally enter nothing.  Try entering 0.00.  If that doesn't work enter 0.01.
