I have a client who has QuickBooks version 2005. I am trying to open his file using my Accountants version 2007. I am trying to convert it but when I hit open, it doesn't do anything.Does anybody have any ideas for how I can use my client's data?Thanks!
You need the same year (2005) to work with their file--Sorry! However, you could access their company file via remote access (WebEx)--which means you would be using their QB 2005. I hope that helps!

Can I load up my 2005 program on my computer even though I have 2007 loaded already? Will that hurt anything? I can have all years of my proseries software on my computer at one time.Thanks!
QB 2007 should open a 2005 file, we do this all the time. However, you can't return the file to the client (but you can make notes on JEs and corrections and tell the client to perform the tasks). What do you mean by "When I hit open"? You can't open it by double-clicking the file in Windows - open QuickBooks, and use File - Open to open the file. QB will tell you it has to be updated, and will make a backup before it updates.
Yes, you can load 2005. I have 2005-2008 loaded on mine plus Enterprise Solutions and POS. I don't like to force my clients to upgrade unless the version is being sunsetted.
When I hit file, open, it doesn't show up because it's a .QBX file.
I'm going to load up my 2005 program. That should do it!
