As an individual bookkeeper (sole proprietor), does anyone recommend using one's own name for the business (e.g., John Smith), or coming up with a general business name (e.g., Pro Bookkeeping)? What has worked better for professional bookkeepers?
Either is perfectly acceptable. If you use the word bookkeeping in your company name, it helps people know what you do right away and it would help with google searches, etc.

I formed an LLC, which has my name in it.
LOL I once worked for a person and was told so.... many times during one of her rages "My name is on the building" that MY name will never be on the building :) Mine is Taxes R Us a full service accounting firm.
