Any comments on the best way to get trained to use Quickbooks?

If you are a good self-starter, there is a lot of material available. But there is nothing like learning from a person in a situation where you can ask questions and get the specific direction you need.
I am biased, perhaps, because I teach it. I mostly taught myself and I sure wish I could have learned from someone like me, back then! I've been using it since 1997 and teaching it for two years now, and I've learned a lot from teaching it that I didn't know about.

If you live near a community college, they have classes on how to do the basics in Quick Books..I live in Las Vegas and they have a class at the college for $189.00. This might be one way to learn!!

My school charges about $76, and I teach an 18-hour Basics of QB.
