I just started with a new company and found that their balance sheet does not balance I went back in time to 4/9/09 and that is the date it went out of balance. Where can I start to find this?
I was finally able to rebuild the data and the balance sheet is still does not balance. Any other suggestions on how to find the error???

| Go to File >Switch to single user mode |
| Go To File>Utilities>Rebuild Data |
| During the process you will also be prompted to make a back up file. |
| Please do not restore from back up. |
| Please check your Balance Sheet of your open file after Rebuild is done. This would be balanced |

this one you need to sit down with a tax accountant, this goes so far back in time that if significant you may have to amend previous tax returns, which as I understand it is limited to the last three years.
but on the balance sheet for the day it is out of balance, double click on an account to get that account detail report and double click on each transaction and examine it. Going to be tough, might be better to talk to the tax accountant about an adjustment to correct things and the company takes the hit
