Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

renee, if I understand your question correctly ("Will my backup files be contaminated when I reinstall them to my cleaned-up computer?"), there is really no way to tell until you do it.  Just be SURE to back up your back up files before you try to reinstall them, preferably to an offsite backup service, such as Carbonite.

Morons. I've got MORONS on my team. Nobody is going to rob us going DOWN the mountain. We have got no MONEY going DOWN the mountain. When we HAVE GOT the money, goin' back UP the mountain, THEN you can sweat.

The solution

If you restore a backup of the program and client files it will be the same.  If you reinstall the software and then restore your client files, you will have to enter your company information (EIN, etc) again.

If this answers your question please click, um, ok I forgot what you are supposed to click. If this answered your question, how about just saying thanks and we will call it good.

Click on my computer > local disk (or wherever your ProSeries is installed) > ProWin09 (or whatever year you are looking for).  You should be able to see the files once you click on the ProWin file.
