I rely heavily on "classes" to separate out departments. I need to assign a class to invoice payments so they will show up on the Cash Flow statements and Balance Sheets reports by Class. Can Intuit please make it possible to assign class in invoice payment receipts window, without resorting to journal entry deposits?
I believe you have already have assign the class when you make up an invoice to your customer, Correct? so you when you received a payment it is already assigned to a certain class by way of the the invoice. That should take care your balance sheet reports by class and your cash flow statements...
Only when I enter the deposit via "banking-deposit" (when I can assign a class to the payment) will it show up in the cash flow report by that assigned class. When I use "customer-receive payment" (which does not allow me to assigna a class), it does not show up on the cash flow report for the invoiced class.
I created an invoice and assigned a class at the line item. Then I received a payment via the "Receive Payments" option. When I ran a cash flow report and filtered it by class it worked just fine. Are you looking for something different than that? Again, you must assign the class at the line level of the invoice.
