AR Summary and Balance sheet differ

Why are my AR summary and the AR balance on the Balance sheet two different amount?

Let me give you a couple of things to check, because they should match.
First, make sure both reports are dated the same date. I know it sounds simple but, it's a common mistake. Also, make sure the balance sheet is set to display accrual basis.
This one depends on which AR report you are using but, with the report displayed, click on the Customize Report button, then click Advanced in the lower right hand corner. Be sure "Report Date" is checked, not "Current".
Past that you might run a Verify routine (File->Utilities->Verify Data) to be sure there is not an error in the company data file.

Thank you for the input. It was a corrupted fileor something, and after 2.5 hours on line with the fabulous QuickBooks Support guys it is fixed.
