Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

Another RL-1 problem

QuickBooks Canada : Pro 2012

The sequential numbers of the RL-1 printed copies is not sequential and some of the numbers are outside the range assigned to me by the government. The numbers are not visible on the" Review" display but only on the printouts.

For example my assigned numbers are from 10001 to 10025 and the numbers printed on the top right corner of my 5 RL-1 forms are 10020, 10025, 10036, 10045 and 10051.

I've never known Rev Que to assign Rev-1 numbers.

The numbers the system is using look right to me.

The last two digits always have gone up by one each, e.g.:-

###12, 23, 34, 45 etc.

If this post answers your question, please give a "thumbs up" or mark this Solved to let others know about it.

The solution

Hi Nadia,

The EFILE Sequential numbers (aka 2nd Series Sequential Numbers)  assigned to you by MRQ are 8 digit numbers.  QuickBooks will then add a 9th digit to the end of the number as a check digit.  This 9th digit comes from a formula supplied by MRQ.  For the pupose of your question, ignore the last digit you see on the RL1 and you should see that the numbers are indeed within your supplied range and in sequential order.  (1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005...)

The 2nd Series Sequential numbers are only generated after the RL1 forms have gone through the EFILE process.  This way, if the RL1 needs to be Amended, the EFILEd form will contain both the original number and a new number.

By design, neither the 1st or 2nd series numbers will show in the Review window.

Nadia B - I have a question for you.  How did you get the numbers from the Québec government?
