Need to amend an amended return. When I copied amended return the original numbers come as "original amount" when I want the "previously adjusted" amounts as original. How do I get first amemdment as original figures? And yes, I did start with the first amended return, not original return.
You most likely will have to right click on each figure and override it so it will be the origional ammended amount. Be sure to send a letter that notes this is the 2nd ammendment
Did you prepare the original? If yes, your next file would be Smith_amended, which would have all the amended numbers on the 1040, as well as the amended numbers on the far right column.
Now delete the 1040X form, and then save the file as Smith_amended_second. Then open the 1040 X and the first amended info should be on the left "originally filed or previously amended" column.
Then make the new changes.
