according to the PS program it will be ready before 4/15.  However here are a couple of suggestions:

1. if you need to "amend" an 09 return...you can make the correction on the original return, print it, write 'CORRECTED RETURN" across the top of 1040 page one and manually file it.

2.  If it is a prior year return that you need to amend, use the prior year program.  IRS has assured us that they will accept it. taxea

I will share what I have learned...you do the research

Good comment in view of the new 1040X and the requirements for the 5405.  This 'corrected return' answer goes way back in time.  The IRS really don't like this procedure, but what can you do with the delay of  1040X 2009 and the overwhelming delays and frugality of paying the FTHBC.  Don't you just LUV  the IRS.

ProSeries has the 1040X now, but watch out as there are apparently some problems in their programming.  I checked the HOH box, but it printed with an X in the Qualifying Widow box instead.

Also, the info from their smart worksheet is not transferring to the form.  I had to re-enter manually.

Help, ProSeries!  Check your work!  Thank you.
