Amend an 1120S with a different DCN number?

Is there a way to amended  an 1120S with different DCN number? We have tried, but the software blacks-out the Amend EF drop down from the home screen.

You can consult proseries.com/support (also accessible through the ProSeries program in the options toward the bottom the of Live Community window). For your particular situation, searching the database for the following might have helped you:

How do I amend a federal or state s corporation return?

Thank you for using ProSeries!

I am having trouble understanding why you want to amend the original Document Control Number?

When all else fails, you can always paper file.

To answer NLevys question is : when we try to amend an original return, yes that makes perfect sense but this is not an original return as we used the "Save As" function to call it i.eJoesmithcontructionamended1120S instead of Joesmithcontruction1120S. ProSeries will change the DCN number to a different one and then we can not efile the amended one because it did not have the "original" DCN code on it. :-)

Save original to new file name such as joeoriginal1120S.  Then make your changes again on original file with original DCN.  Thus amended return will be under 1st DCN which was e-filed.
