Is their a benefit to becoming an Advanced ProAdvisor?

Becoming an Advanced Certified ProAdvisor helps you a lot in the rankings on the Find a Proadvisor website -- lots of us get a lot of clients from it. Also, being Advanced Certified helps increase your credibility with clients and to differentiate yourself from others. I highly recommend it! Here's a video with study tips for the Adv Cert Test--it isn't easy which is why it means more and is more highly regarded.

Thanks for answering. I bought your book over a year ago and that encouraged me to become a ProAdvisor. I quickly got certified in 2008 and 2009 over the summer. The rep. at Intuit recommended it and suggested I get 2010 done as well ASAP. I have gotten very few calls from the website so that is why I now hesitate to buy 2010 and get certified. I even had my clients leave comments so I come up first. I have only been on the website for 6 months now so maybe I am expecting to much. I was hoping to not have to work part-time for a local CPA ( during tax time) but I don't have enough regular clients. Many clients come from word of mouth but only want me to teach and set-up. Maybe I am not doing this right. Any advise.

Thanks for buying my book! :)
I agree that you should get certified in 2010 -- being certified in the current year also helps in the rankings. How is your profile? Did you include a pic? Pay attention to the first few words that show in the search results. Don't just list your services, but what are the benefits for clients and what problems do you solve for them.
It does take time to build up your business, but it gets easier as you build momentum. Are you requesting referrals from clients and others? Are you using online social media as well?
Working part time for a CPA firm can only help you gain more experience and expertise. You can also observe and learn from their operating procedures and processes.

I do have a picture but I will work on my wording. I guess the next step is 1. Buy 2010 2. Study program.3. Study for test. 4. Take Exam . Did I miss anything? Where do I find the webinars? There is so much to learn. PS. Thanks for the youtube video. I will need all the help I can get.

When you go into the Certification course, there is a link for the Training Library. It includes webinars and PDFs for all the certifications. If you just past 2008 and 2009, then 2010 certification shouldn't take you that long--the majority of the material and questions are the same.
