Advanced Certification renewal

QuickBooks Advanced Certification:  How long is the certification good for?   I saw somewhere 24 months & some CPE's

The Advanced Certified back in 2007 - when do they get off the list if they haven't taken the test?  I thought their certification was to expire in Jan 2009 then they were given 8 more months which will end Sept 2009 - when will they be down on the list of find a ProAdvisor

The new advanced certification expires 2 years after you complete the exam.
I think they dropped all the 2007 people who hasn't taken the test yet.

Hope this helps. If so please mark solved, if not please ask more questions. Thanks!

1/ I want to make sure I understand you:  When we take the Advanced Exam & pass its good for 2 years than we must take the exam again to stay Advanced Cetification - NO CPE to maintain that Correct?

I am down on the list searching for ProAdvisor because of the people with 2007 advanced.  Only couple with 2009 all of the others are 2007

2/ The reason I asked about the 2007 Advanced - whom only attended the seminar no exam was taken - They are as of yesterday still listed Advanced 2007 when I search in my area - and many of them!!!  Why are they still listed advanced?  I recall they were given time to take the test or loose the advanced but they are still listed.

I earned the Adv Cert in 2007 and passed the exam in 12/08.  My listing still shows Adv Cert "Since 2007".  So, I don't think you can tell if they've passed the exam or not.

Once you pass the exam, then you need CPE to maintain it.  They haven't announced the CPE requirements yet.

PLEASE mark this answer as solved (click the button under the answer in the lower, right corner) or post additional questions. Thanks so much!!!

Okay, I can confirm The Advanced Certification is a one time Exam and to keep it we need CPE.  Nothing about the CPE's.

Now, the 2007 Advanced Certification that was given only for attending the seminars are still listed in the find the ProAdvisor as Advanced and they didn't pass any written Exam.  We know they were going to expire in Jan. 2009 then they were given an extension - Many of them didn't take the test & some didn't pass it yet.

The Question is: "WHEN DO THEY LOOSE THE ADVANCED & PRIORITY LISTING in the Find a proadvisor if they didn't pass the exam??"

Thanks,

I think they would have lost it already.
You should call the Pro Advisor line for a definitive answer.

Hope this helps. If so please mark solved, if not please ask more questions. Thanks!

Does this mean if you are not a CPA, you can not be Advance Certified? I've was 2007 Adv Cert and it has expired, I'm in the process of taking 2009.

One8--you do NOT have to be a  CPA to earn the Advanced Certification.

Lordis -

If I understand the question correctly - "If a ProAdvisor took the seminars and webinars and completed 3 years of consecutive certification" when will they lose their Adv Cert status and thus drop in the www.findaproadvisor.com rankings?"

The original Adv Certification was a 2 year certification, with everyone receiving a 4 month extension.  Some people complete all 3 requirements (4 webinars, a 4 part live seminar, and 3 years of consecutive certification) in Nov 2006, others didn't complete the requirements until much later in 2007 and early 2008.  Remember, if the ProAdvisor took the seminars and webinars, but failed to complete 3 years of certification at the time (2005, 2006, and 2007), had the opportunity to complete the requirements by later completing 2006 - 2008).

Additionally, if the original Adv Cert group later took and passed the Adv Cert exam, their certification was extended 2 years from their pass date.

So the quick answer is it depends.  If a user was in the original group in Nov 2006, and never took the Adv Cert exam, they have already fallen off the site...If they were in a later group that complete in early 2008, they won't expire until late 2010.  If they recently completed the Adv Cert exam, they won't expire until late 2011...

Hope this helps!

BTW - all of the rankings on the www.findaproadvisor.com treat all Adv Certifications THE SAME...There is no preferential treatment based on WHEN the certification was completed.
