Additional training for newly certified?

US QuickBooks Premier : 2011: Accountant

I am newly certified. I would like some typical client situations to practice with prior to getting new clients. Anyone know of a workbook or other training venue to "practice"?

There are some practice files in the CPE courses you could play with.  Depending on what type of clients you expect to attract you may want to play with the inventory features and try to set up a list of inventory with subitems and pricing levels.  I'm not sure if you have a payroll plan but it may be good practice to tinker with the payroll items to make sure you can set up the payroll liabilities/expenses properly.

I have found it useful to use the sample companies that come with the software.  Open  up a sample company and add various transactions, add items to lists etc  and in short, just play around with the software.   I advise all of our new QuickBooks users to do this.  Another valuable training tool is to simply create a "'dummy" company from scratch.  You can then create any situation that you may encounter with your clients.  I don't believe you can set up and use a dummy payroll without a payroll subscription though.
