Turn it on and make sure you have latest update
Its in Edit prefferences and only turn it on do not select to use customer & supplier codes eave default alone and set rounding to both.
Now go and set the Vat up on the items. you can do this in one go from manage vat and assign vat codes. Easiest is to set the vat code for standard 20% and then tweak the few that will be different if any.
Now go to the supplier HMRC and set the period end dates you will use under the Vat info tab. Do not change anything else.
