adding Late Payment Interest charges on invoices

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows

I have several customers who pay late. I need to assess interest and would like QB to calculate the amount automatically when I print an invoice. How can I do this?

 

To make this more complicated, a customer may make a partial payment so I need to calculate the interest up to that payment, then calculate the new interest on the balance.

 

I have Pro2008 but if this works in newer versions, I'll upgrade.

You have to create a finance charge invoice.
Set the preference then from the customer menu
Edit Menu > Preferences > Finance CHarges > Company Preferences

Customer menu > Access Finance Charges
