Accounting Practice with Healthcare as a niche
I currently work full time but I started an accounting business last year and so far has 2 clients (both auto repair shops). I have decided to commit more time to grow the business. I'm interested in building my practice around the healthcare industry, serving small clinics, homecare etc. Although I worked a year at a dental company corporate office but I don't have much experience in the healthcare field and have a few questions:
1) I plan to take the QB pro advisor certification however I noticed that healthcare is not listed as an industry on the website, Does anyone know what accounting/finance software healthcare/medical offices use?
2) Do you think I have to take courses/seminars on Healthcare accounting etc to understand the way the accounting process operates? If so I would appreciate if you can give suggestions.
3) Is Healthcare Accounting process set up different from other industries or should I expect the same financials, ledgers etc as other industries?
4) I was thinking of offering medical claim/billing processing but I have no experience in this area and will need to hire someone. Do you think it will be necessary to offer billing in order to get the bookeeping/accounting work or will I still be able to get clients without the billing?
Any comments/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
