I'm not quite understanding your question. Are you saying that when a user on workstation "A" logs off from quickbooks, a user on workstation "B" immediately gets a message to abort?
This happen when one of the user logs off for the day, and when the other users try to enter data on the system, message pops up to abort. Our data is on a main server. Please advise
Please provide some more details for us to consider.
Which version of QB are you running? How many clients? Does the problem happen with all clients or only one?
We are experiencing a similar problem. One thing we have noticed is if the user on the PC where the initial install was done signs out then anyone in Quick Books at that time will get the abort message. Also if the user who gets the abort message logs back in they go in in single user mode... Ours is a network install with the Quick Books data being stored on the file server (Windows 2003) in a Mapped drive. All client machines are Windows XP.
I'm facing the same problem. One user logs off & others get aborted. Lose the info they're working on. Using quckbooks pro 2010. Hope there will be a solution soon.

This sounds related to the log off issue many have had though I hadn't heard it effecting other users on the network. See this thread here for one such instance:

Have you looked through the qbwin.log file on the pc's in question for specific errors after this happens?

Hi,
This sounds like the company file is being hosted on the network by the first person to log in. Download and run the network diagnostic tool to troubleshoot the issue.

I know what the cause is, but trying to work on finding a solution. The first pc to log onto quickbooks becomes the server or temp server and when it is shtdown all the other connections to quickbooks is lost. The first pc logging onto quickbooks modifies the .nd file which is in the same folder as the company file. If you want to edit or modify the file open it with notepad.
We had this problem but it stopped once all our QB computers were upgraded to Vista from XP. The one causing the abort was the computer where the company file was stored. When she shut down we all got disconnected.
