A new tool is available to help with common installation errors. It is attached to certain installation KB articles, listed below. The tool was designed to automatically repair .NET Framework and/or Windows Installer (MSI) system components and perform a hard drive installation.

The tool can be accessed from the following KB articles:

Error 1304: "Error writing to file [file name]. Verify that you have access to that directory."

Error 1603: “There was a problem installing Microsoft .NET Framework”

Error 1603: "The update installer has encountered an internal error" and/or "Unable to ApplyPatch" when installing a QuickBooks update

Error 1335: "The cabinet file [data1.cab] required for this installation is corrupt and cannot beused" or "The cabinet file [2] required for this installation cannot be used.

Error 1311: "Source file not found (filename). Verify that the file exists and that you can accessit."

Performing a hard drive installation of QuickBooks

Although the tool is currently only linked to these articles, feel free to use the tool for other calls that require the repair of Microsoft .NET, MSI, or a hard drive installation to resolve the issue.

I am trying to install quickbooks 2010. I click start and put in the D:/setup.exe, and it takes me to the garbage can. Is there a phone number I can use to get help.

I don't see in what your describe the error I have. When I go to the General Journal Entries, I can't enter any figure with and without a period. Ex: 50776.13 I get the following message: This number is larger than the maximum allowed. I also sometimes get the following message: unidentified character.

this is not working for me on the 1304 error with qb2005 tried the tool and copying to the hard drive from a thumbdrive download from another computer and witht he setup it displays the same error. .net was removed, rebooted and installed from the thumb drive.
