990 preparation overrides...
On a 990, page 5, lines 7g and 7h. You can’t say “N/A†for these. But you really can’t answer them yes or no. I’d like to override them and leave them blank. How can I do this?

I don't use the 990 program, but my standard answer is to use your White-Out.
I guess the answer is probably yes as it states, did the organization file the return as required. If they didn't have any sales, there wasn't any returns required to be filed!
I have found no way to leave them blank, the program defaults to "YES".
But you cannot use white-out because the return is required to be filed electronically. If you did not receive any of these intellectual property or vehicle donations, then you DID file as required, so the yes answer is not exactly wrong. I would like an N/A option.

Is it possible to put a client note into the return? On the client note you could say something like "Computer program prints YES in such-and-such a question. Preparer feels NOT APPLICABLE would be more appropriate, but this is not an option in this program."
I've found that in the 1040 program, a "client statement note" will indeed get sent thru to IRS electronically (even though the ones you'd like for the states, won't go thru electronically).
