Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). 2012 locks up when entering checks.

US QuickBooks for Macintosh : 2012

Why does mac 2012 lock up on me every time I start entering a check? Everything else seems to run fine, but it locks up before I can finishing inputing a check about 9 out of 10 times.

I've only been using the software for a couple weeks now. This problem has basically made it useless to me until I can get it fixed.

We/ve been seeing more of this recently and still looking for the cause.  I have been able to duplicate only when my display resolution is set to 1280 x 800 or lower.  Try changing your resolution (Apple > System Preferences > Dispays > Display tab).

We have this information in a KB that allows you to subscribe to email notifications.  Go to  http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/Articles/SL... and click on the Subscribe button.  If changing your resolution does not resolve the problem please email me at SEA@intuit.com and reference this thread; I'd like to get a copy of your system profile to see if we can find a conflict there that would help the development team resolve this problem.

Please help me improve my performance by answering a short survey that will be emailed to you from the community.

The problem appears to have gone away. I had attempted "rebuilding data" to see if that did anything. It did not.

Then I re-downloaded the software from Amazon and tried re-installing it. It appears that has fixed the issue. I've gone a couple days now without it locking up. Maybe it was just something corrupted in the original file?

I'm hoping it will remain okay. I didn't have to make any adjustments to my resolution.
