2009 Premier slow to open
QuickBooks Premier Accountant 2009 takes a long time to open. It doesn't matter what company file is open when the program opens. Is there something I can do while I'm in next time to speed up the process?

Are any other programs slow? Run virus and spyware updates and scans. If QuickBooks is still slow, turn off your firewall, spyware and virus programs for a minute and start QuickBooks again. Make sure there is MORE than enough memory (1g) and free hard drive space (20%). Update QuickBooks to the latest version and then turn OFF automatic updates. Also remove any program starting with QB in the Windows Start, All programs Startup folder. There are only about 12 updates a year, so why let QuickBooks search for updates each time Windows or QuickBooks starts? Then reboot and try again. It is unlikely you have data damage since you said it does not matter what company file is open. You can still bring a different file with you, and see if it is slow, besides taking a backup file with you to try it on a different computer.
