what are the 2009 Lacerte product release dates?

Fran, I would like to append Jay's correct answer to add that this question will more than likely not be answered by anyone who frequents this forum. Why? It's been asked (and answered) several times already. A simple search should return those results. Also, many of the questions asked here have answers if you search from the Support section of the website. I would reserve community questions for things that you need help from your peers to answer - not things that are readily available.....Just my $.02.

Before I posted this question to the forum, i did search for the same question to see if it was previously asked but did not get any results for 2009. Unfortunately the link to the release dates seems to have been down all day. Since we have some 2009 returns ready to prepare, I wanted to get the timetable for printing returns, not in draft format. Since nothing else was readily available, i posted the question to the forum.
As it related to the release date(s) matter, I just posted my comment on how Lacerte is performing, in my opinion, for the last couple of years.
The release dates section is down all the the time, while other (sale) sections are working. To me, that is intentional (or they have a real serious problem with their own team that cannot even give management an affirmative answer) for a company of this size. Call me opinionate if you would, the fact and substance of the matter rule.
I am a long, long time user, I left Lacerte once (after Intuit taken over) and came back on the promise the company would improve. Looks to me that I MAKE A MISTAKE.
When I click on the release dates in my account after logging into Lacerte, it comes up a blank screen...anyone else have this problem?
We were looking to see when the 2009 Lacerte Forms library would be available but couldn't find any reference to Lacerte Forms Library Release Date when put into the search engine.

At the top of this page, type in "2009 release dates". Press the arrow. Answer appears!

I can't even get an answer on release dates from our account manager. He has told me NY is included in Release 2, but we get a message that we can not process any NY returns because it hasn't been released.

Jay, thanks for the link to the main release dates. These dates and release numbers don't say when certain states will be available, but as a general guideline, it's certainly better than nothing.
Actually, there were so many answers when I typed in "2009 release dates" that I would suggest others type in "here are the 2009 release dates" in order to get right to your post that has the Lacerte release dates we want.

I guess I'm a little confused. I just don't see what the big deal is. You can't efile till 1/15 at the earliest. The year hasn't even ended yet, so I don't know why anyone would care whether the forms are still in draft form, since you can't begin prepping returns till after year end.
I don't mean this post to sound negative, but I just don't get it and I wish I did. When there are so many other preparers worrying about it, it makes me wonder what I'm missing.

Speaking just for myself, I use the end-of-year release for year-end tax planning. It's nice to have the state included, even when you live in an "easy" state.

cl, there was another discussion about this, and you are all correct when you said that we cannot e-file until January 15, at the earliest. But you can still paper file a return as soon as the info is available. So I could paper file with my Schedule C if I do not need a W2 or anything else. But I could not prepare my state return yet.
SOME people do not e-file(and you now who you are). ;-)

Thanks for the examples. We use Lacerte's tax planner software, mostly, but there is the odd client that we just project in the tax software. So, from a tax planning perspective, that makes total sense.
