Hello, my name is Janet, I am an EasyAcct Tech Support Rep. At this time the IRS is still requiring the Red form for the 1099. Sending the 1099s on plain paper could cause a rejection, but that will have to be your decision if you want to take this risk.

One exception to that ruling is if you have more than 250 forms to file you must file them electronically. The Information Return System will create a file in an electronic format that is acceptable to the IRS and SSA (for W2s).

Here is a link to the 1099 form instructions: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf...

Thank you-
Janet

Unfortunately the IRS will not accept the 1099 on plain paper. Instead, they must be printed on a red dropout ink form.

If this answers your question please mark this item as solved.
