I am an accountant and clients have various versions of Quickbooks from 2007-2012. Do I need preprinted 1099 forms for all years? Someone told me that you could use balnk perforated paper in 2011 and 12. Is this true?

1099 and W2 forms are for a tax year, not a program product year.
W2 can be printed on blank paper but 1099 needs the red copy.
Yes of course, however, you can print 1099s for 2010 from a QBs 2007 product. You have to print on preprinted paper. In 2012 you can print any year on blank paper for W2s or 1099s. i wanted to know what year that started in for W2s and 1099s. Thank you.I am referring to the receipient copy
The IRS does not accept 1099 and 1096 printed from QB on plain paper.
For any QB program, open Help and search on printing 1099 or printing W2, to learn about the options.
For printing W2 from QB, the file needs to have a payroll service.
