I am sorry, but I cannot fully understand your question. To change the rate of a sales tax item, in the Item List window, double-click on the item to change, type in the new rate as 6.5 and click OK.

If that is what you tried to do and it caused QuickBooks to crash, then you might need to delete the application's preference file.

1. Shut down QuickBooks 2009 for Mac.

2. Go to your user Home and open the Library folder: http://screencast.com/t/SitXLB...

3. In the Library folder, open the Preferences folder and locate the QB 2009 for Mac preference file: http://screencast.com/t/23AyFs...

4. Drag the preference file to the trash, and then relaunch QuickBooks.

Please post back to say whether this helped or or you need more help.

thank you for your help ... sorry I am bad I'm french and understand English poorly ... my problem is actually the rate, in fact I do not know if I need to create lists two items, a for Florida and the other for the Orange County but I also try as you say but my problem is that I close the software and I again I submit the rate to 6% and not why a 6.5%

1975, I think that you need to read Chapter 10 of the user's guide. To download your copy of the user's guide, from the Help menu, choose "User's Guide."

Chapter 10 will help you understand how to set up more than one tax agency and (if you need them) tax groups. If you have trouble understanding it, post back and we'll try to help.

Best wishes!
