Why did my asset number change in Lacerte 2009?
LacerteI just rolled a client from 2008 to 2009 and all the asset numbers have changed!!!!!!

Wow! By any chance are you using an option which "sorts" alphabetically, and Lacerte "decided" to sort your assets? I wonder if your problem, and another person whose 2008 assets weren't showing up on the organizer, is related to my problem of being completely unable to do any organizers, a "read of address / e-access violation" problem.

It looks like it has tried to clean things up by eliminating skipped numbers from disposed assets. Problem is the client uses the asset number to identify assets in their accounting systems and they have hundreds that have now changed!!

What a pain in the tail! Maybe you can put the client's numbering system into the description of the asset -- example "005 Building on Main Street; 055 Computer '06; 057 Computer '07" and so on. That way, if the client's numbering system has an asset numbered 005, and the next asset is numbered 055, you can have their 005 and 055 in the description, even if Lacerte is numbering these assets 1, 2 and 3.
