Scanner Document Jam

Is there a way to recover from a scanner document jam without rebooting the computer? After the jam when I hit the scan button in DMS it would crash DMS.

Type of scanner? I would try:

Powering off the scanner
Disconnecting the usb plug
Shutting down DMS

Then,

Plugging it back in, powering it on, then restarting DMS.

My scanner is a Fujitsu 5120C. I tried turning off the scanner and exiting DMS but that didn't help. I'll try disconnecting the usb plug the next time I have a problem.

You may also want to try killing any tasks that start with DMS, such as DMSAPI, after giving it a minute to close normally. Then restart. This works wonders when the DMS printer queue glitches.

I use PaperPort 11pro and a canon DR-2050C scanner on a USB cable. Sometimes when the scanner jams I end up restarting the computer to clear things out. Using Task Manager to kill the related processes doesn't always work. It seems like sometimes the USB driver gets corrupted in memory and a classic Windows restart is the only way to restore it.
