Backup of the DMS Database

We implemented DMS this year, and have been doing hard drive backups of the DMS directory. We are also starting to do offsite backups as a safety measure. After reading this forum, I am a little concerned that we are not backing up properly. I am wondering if I backup the DMS directory, is that enough to restore in case of disaster?

Yes - assuming when you say directory that you mean database directory. You can always import clients/documents "from another database" which is in essence what you would be doing.

Be very careful that your backup method does not compress data files. DMS is notorious for corrupting the database in that instance, often losing the index. I'm still using DMS but most of my local Lacerte user friends have changed to other paperless systems due to the many problems with DMS.
