I use QB2005, so I don't know if anything in this area has changed since 5 years ago. The way I do it, is to get into the vendor list, find the two vendors that I really want to be one vendor -- such as, "Mike Cox" and "Michael Cox" or whatever -- go to the one I want to "disappear" (say the nickname "Mike Cox") and edit the name to "Michael Cox." QuickBooks will then show that there is another vendor with that name, and would I like to merge them? I can then click "yes," and all entries that used to be "Mike Cox" will now be "Michael Cox" along with all entries that were always "Michael Cox" in the first place.
If this type of thing isn't what you meant, then I don't know.
