I would develop a telemarketing program in the following order,
A. Define the niche market segment that you want to focus on.
B. Create a pricing policy,
E.G. price per square foot of different types of surfaces.
C, Develop a telemarketing script that is oriented to a prospect decision-maker. Explain some of the features and benefits of your service. Ask for a short duration no cost or obligation face to face meeting in order to define whether your company can meet their needs.
D. Researching the prospect will help you to shine. Bring letters of commendation and an agreement that is customized to their needs.
E. Ask the prospect to tell you in as much detail as possible what are the results that he is looking for from your services.
E. Point out how the features and/or benefits of your services will help him achieve his objectives.
F. Summarize everything that you discussed and ask for the order.
G. After the meeting send a thank you and/or welcome letter to the client/prospect.
After noticing your mention that you run a small home based business I already sense that you may be on a shoe-string budget. I, too, have a small business that allows me to work from home but also has me out and about some. Therefore, my first suggestion would be to network with a business that visits the home of customers. Businesses such as air condition/heating, landscapers, home health services, and pet sitters (like myself). My mother started her house cleaning service back in 1985. In 1992, started working for her part-time with 2 goals in mind. The first goal was just to help while making a little extra money, the other was to find potential new clients for my pet-care business that I was starting. Almost every person who needed there home cleaned had a pet of some sort. Chances were that most pet owners would find themselves in need of someone to take care of their precious pets while they were out-of-town (holidays/business/vacation). That's where I would come into play. Later on, when websites become a business necessity, I created my mother's first business website but added a link to my own pet-care services site on it. My mother and I both benefited from our pact and we still help each other today. In conclusion, I would suggest you simply start talking to anyone and everyone you come within 5 feet of. It's amazing how many people you can meet and swap business cards with. Seems that everyone is trying to be an entrepreneur or just make an honest extra living just to get through these tough economic times. Good luck and stay focused on your agendas.
