Child training expenses for acting?

What is proper method of handling a child's expenses incurred in training for an acting career?

These would be considered personal expenses. You can not deduct expenses that qualify you for a profession.

Same answer as if they were training for a basketball career or a banking career.  Zip, zero, nada -- at least until they get beyond the high school level, and probably not then either.  I just had to shell out $550 so that my granddaughter could play club volleyball.  Nondeductible personal expense, even if I were to insist that she's going to turn pro.

These are not deductable expenses for tax purposes, but are expenses that the taxpayer must bear
